Some of the Joys of Mollie Toll

Teaching - when a child makes a connection between what she is seeing to the subject they are studying:
when students become so interested in their notes and drawing, they don't want to stop;
the wonder of children learning to read, analyze and think independently.

Seeds and charcoal to tell facts about ancient cooking and life: Paleo-ethnobotany.

Food - Made nourishing by her garden's soil, and delicious by careful preparation,
Meals beautiful in presentation on colorful crockery and lovely linens,
Friends enjoying the meals with warm hearts and lively conversation.

The more than forty years of love and marriage with Wolky:
his joy and gratitude cannot be adequately expressed.

Her strong, caring, talented and active sons Nick, Spencer, and Christian S.

Their wonderful group of friends-what a joy to see them all together.

Dr. Nancy Struever, her high-powered and accomplished mother.

Her brothers Fred and Bill and their many impressive projects.

Uncle Mike Mattioli.

Memories of times with her father in many places.

Dr. Lois Toll, book sister and confidant, Ned New England brother.

Sobrinas Sally, Lucy, Kate, Lydia, Liza, Sobrinos Max, Jasper, Ellis, Ian.

An abundant (and gopher-free) garden. Happily growing fruit trees.

The Gallo Pithouse and children thinking about her quarter scale recreation of it.

Her Casa Solana house and new backyard kitchen, patio, and tub.

Her creation of its calming, happy, beautiful living space.

The neighborhood, embracing it with close friends, including the all-season Sommers.

The design and completion of cabin kitchens in the mountains of Tolland, Colorado.

Books. More books-mysteries; histories; fiction; plants; culture. Groups and sisters.

Chaco Canyon , Los Luceros, Santa Fe Botanical garden, Salazar Green school garden.

Solstice. Christmas. Valentine's. Easter. Each carefully and elaborately observed.

The views in South Boulder Park.

A tightly constructed, well-turned paragraph.

Small town Santa Fe; museums, creative stores.

Libraries - Santa Fe, schools, Blue Hill.

Flowers. More flowers - thanks to all.

A fire in the fireplace.

Swimming a mile.

Mahjongg.

Seeds to grow.

All children.

Compassion.

Fairness.

Color.

Blue.

Mollie died on February 8, 2023. Her love, care, and intelligence in all things wholly transcend the devastating setbacks dealt to her corporal form by myelofibrosis and leukemia.

Vayas con amor nuestra ángel Mollie. Go in beauty. The nurses in the Oncology, PCU, and ICU units at St. Vincent's were stellar. Robbie and Adisa are also saints.

Mollie was the Queen of Lists. With so many friends and causes and projects, we could never make this one as complete as she would. We will have a memorial day that will give her joy when her many friends and admirers come together.
