Mollie always had a long list of projects before her. Being the most thoughtful, creative person in the World, many of the projects were making things--knitting, sewing, making campaign posters for a younger brother and crafting valentine cards (remember doily’s?). In her fount of consideration, she also sent thank you notes, mailed science books to her friends’ kids and generally cranked out a prodigious array of nice things.
One my favorite Mollie projects was her Christmas surprise balls. She’d collect all kinds of little knick knacks and candies, then wrap them up in balls of different colored crepe paper. Whether Christmas in Santa Fe, Baltimore or Villa Spellman in Florence, Mollie’s surprise balls were a Christmas treasure.
Sadly, though Mollie was the greatest producer of heartfelt projects, Mollie was always disappointed in her failure to get EVERYTHING on her project list done. We’ll miss her projects. I do want to resurrect her surprise balls next Christmas.
